Occasional Climber

On the descent trail below Kongde. This drops steeply but safely through some outrageous terrain in a continuous 1,400 metre descent - coming up this way unacclimatised at the start of a trek would be brutal and stupid
On the descent, with Tamserku (left) and Kusum Kanguru behind
Looking down on Monjo, where my friends Ang Nimi and Pasang Dorje Sherpa live
Monjo viewed from about 800 metres above
A view of the Dudh Kosi valley, looking towards Lukla

We took a local shortcut along the trail and popped out onto the main route at Benkar
Back at Monjo to bid farewell to Ang Nimi and Pasang Dorje
Looking back at some of the terrain that the Kongde descent route traverses
Between Lukla and and Namche Bazaar were many dusty donkey jams
Nearing sunset, back in Lukla > Back to main Khumbu selection
