Approaching Pt 1520, with Pt 1601 the rocky point beyond and our route stretching further right

Beyond Pt 1520, approaching Pt 1601, which we sidled a little beneath the summit on the right

Beyond Pt 1601 the terrain is quite craggy until west of Pt 1565

Looking east, back to Pt 1601 |

A view from Pt 1565, east to The Twins (right) and Mt Arthur (left of centre). Hoary Head is far left

Approaching the western side of Pt 1449 on easy ground. This suddenly ended in steep rocky bluffs.

We opted to descend on the southern side, which is more tricky and exposed than the north side. This view is from the bottom of the steepest section, now requiring a sidle to regain the ridge below the bluffs. Baton Saddle is just left of centre

A view across Baton Saddle to the main range leading southwest to Cowin Spur

A view from Baton Saddle, looking south. Note the small tarn in the centre only about 30 metres down
